THE SCHMIDT BROTHERS
We are The Schmidt Brothers from Vinton Iowa. Growing up, music was always a huge part of our lives. Our father introduced us to our passion of performing when we were little kids. The three of us have been performing with many bands for the last 15 years all around Iowa. But now, we have decided that it is time to pursue our dream of creating our own band, The Schmidt Brothers. We are a true variety band covering many genres such as country, pop, and specializing in 80’s rock n’ roll (Journey, REO Speedwagon, Foreigner etc.). STEPHEN SCHMIDT
Stephen Schmidt is the drummer and one of the lead vocalists for The Schmidt Brothers. The oldest of the three brothers, Stephen recently graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in May of 2020 and is currently a full time graduate student at the University of Iowa working on his Masters of Science in Business Analytics. Stephen has been playing drums since the age of 6, and also occasionally lends his piano skills to the band.
While a student at UNI, Stephen played drums for the UNI Panthers Basketball Pep Band at home games. He has also volunteered as a musician for many local theater productions in the brothers' hometown of Vinton, IA, even serving as the musical director for one. Stephen can also be seen playing with his two brothers and father in the band StraitRun, as well as the Cedar Rapids based band Cocked N' Loaded.
SAMUEL SCHMIDT
Samuel Schmidt is the guitar player and a singer for The Schmidt Brothers. He also manages the band, and handles the audio production. Sam is 22 years old and is currently a Senior attending the University of Northern Iowa. Sam is majoring in Technology and Engineering Education and plans to one day get his masters degree.
As a very talented multi-instrumentalist, Sam has performed with many bands. You may have seen Sam perform with Cocked N' Loaded, Casting Call, Straitrun, or the Cedar River Rockers. In 2016, Sam was selected as the Iowa All State 3A guitar player. He has also done some session recording with some local musicians and bands.
GABRIEL SCHMIDT
Gabriel Schmidt is the bass player as well as the youngest of the three brothers. He is 18 years old and is currently working towards an associate degree at Kirkwood community college. After, he plans to attend the University of Northern Iowa to achieve a business-based bachelor's degree.
Much like his brothers, he is no stranger to performing in front of people. Gabe has performed in other bands such as Stampede, Staitrun, Cedar River Rocks and Farm Rock. He has also participated in virtual collaborations with other musicians around the country. In 2019 and 2020, he was chosen as the Iowa All-State 3A bass player.
